Our Mission Matters

Improved HINOKO inc Mission Statement

Established: November 2020

Our Mission

At HINOKO inc, we honor a simple truth: healing and self-care are not luxuries—they are birthright. We are devoted to making traditional medicine, moxibustion, and the Mukaino method available to all, everywhere, regardless of circumstance.

We awaken and guide both practitioners and communities with wisdom and practical tools to nurture themselves and those around them. Through accessible learning, open-source knowledge, and transparent teaching, we weave ancient insight with modern reach. When people truly understand their bodies and hold simple, equipment-free practices in their hands, they restore their own power to heal.

Education and knowledge are power. Once learned, they are yours forever—no one can take them away. Our work flows across the world—from Africa through MOxafrica to communities everywhere—guided by one steady conviction: all beings deserve to possess the wisdom to care for themselves. With the generous support of our donors, we sustain this mission and extend our reach further each day.

HINOKO inc is a US-approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Founder

HINOKO inc was founded by Dr. Yuki-Sachiko Itaya, a senior guide of the Mukaino method and trustee of MOxafrica. Through decades of practice, study, and teaching across many lands, Dr. Itaya has witnessed the profound transformation these methods bring—and the painful inequality in who can access them.

Moved by the belief that healing wisdom belongs to all people, Dr. Itaya established HINOKO inc to ensure that poverty and distance never determine whether someone can claim their own power to care for themselves.

Why We Do This

The Wound We See

Self-care should never depend on where you are born or how much you possess. I have witnessed those with means receive thoughtful guidance and steady support, while in villages and forgotten places, people suffer in silence—unaware that healing tools exist, or believing they cannot afford them. This separation is not fate. It is a choice we make—and I choose differently.

What grieves me most is this: knowledge, once given, becomes theirs forever. A person who learns the Mukaino method cannot be stripped of that knowledge. A community taught moxibustion carries that wisdom for generations. Education is the only true wealth that multiplies when shared and cannot be taken away. Yet we gatekeep it behind cost and walls. This injustice moves me to act.

Our Guiding Principles

Knowledge must reach all people. Whether you dwell in a great city or remote mountain village, whether your resources are abundant or scarce, you deserve to understand the wisdom of your own body. We teach with open hands and transparent methods. Through donor support, we ensure no one is turned away. Once you learn, that knowledge is yours—eternally, irrevocably yours.

Education is the deepest form of empowerment. When people learn to care for themselves, they cease waiting for rescue. They step from shadow into their own agency. They become active keepers of their own healing. A person who understands their body cannot be made helpless. A community with knowledge cannot be made dependent. This shift—from ignorance to wisdom, from helplessness to wholeness—is transformation that lasts a lifetime and echoes through generations.

Teachers and students both have much to receive. We guide healthcare practitioners to serve with deeper understanding. We teach all people to become their own healer. These are not separate paths—they strengthen and illuminate each other. When a practitioner learns more, they teach better. When a community learns, they support their healers more wisely.

True wisdom does not diminish when given away—it multiplies. When knowledge is shared openly, it becomes stronger, like a river that grows wider as more tributaries join it. The more who practice moxibustion, the more we learn. The more who walk the Mukaino method, the more its gifts reveal themselves. Ten thousand people teaching each other create infinitely more wisdom than one person hoarding secrets. Living knowledge grows; locked knowledge withers.

Neither distance nor poverty must be destiny. Through MOxafrica and our network across the world, we reach people in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The internet has made borders invisible. What remains is the courage to teach without walls and the resources to place knowledge into every hand that reaches for it.

Our Self-Care Projects & Donor Impact

Every donation fuels our mission to bring education and materials to those who need them most—so they may claim knowledge as their own:

Global Self-Care Initiative – We create accessible self-care education and training programs tailored to communities worldwide. Your support enables us to develop curricula, translate materials into local languages, and train local teachers who understand their own communities. Once taught, this knowledge becomes permanent inheritance.

Materials & Resources Distribution – We send moxibustion kits, instructional materials, and practical tools to underserved regions across Africa, Asia, and beyond. Each donation ensures that those in remote villages, refugee camps, and rural communities receive what they need to learn and practice independently.

Community Healing Centers – We establish local healing spaces where people gather, learn, and practice together. With your help, we equip these centers and train facilitators who empower their communities with knowledge.

Digital Learning Platform – We maintain and expand accessible online resources—videos, guides, and interactive learning—so knowledge reaches even the most isolated places and remains accessible always.

Teacher Training Programs – We support practitioners in underserved regions through advanced training, ensuring local expertise grows and healing knowledge spreads across generations.

Our Commitment to You

We sustain our teaching through the generosity of those who believe in this work. Every contribution—large or small—extends knowledge and materials to someone who might otherwise never access them. Once they learn, that power is theirs to keep.

We will continue reaching across borders and barriers. We will place wisdom within reach of all. We will send education and support as far as the work calls us—to the furthest edges if necessary. Neither distance nor resource limitation will turn us from this path.

We invite you to learn with us, practice alongside us, and share these teachings with others. Your donation directly sustains our global self-care projects, ensuring that education and training reach those who need them most. You help place power—real, lasting, unshakeable power—into the hands of those who deserve it.

Together, we are cultivating a world where all people possess the knowledge to tend to themselves. And once they know, no one can ever take that away.
